Automotive Air Conditioning Problem: How to replace the evaporator coil The evaporator coil is a device in a vehicle air conditioning system. It provides cool air to customers by vaporizing a liquid refrigerant. This liquid can be condensed back to a gas for use in the vehicle's heating system, thus cooling the inside of vehicles whenever they are driven. The evaporator coil makes use of refrigerant to absorb heat from the outside into its metal fins and then release that heat into the air when it vaporizes into a gas that travels through hollow tubing and enters an expansion valve which controls how much fuel is allowed through each time, allowing for varying degrees of air flow from vents in seats or dashboards depending on cabin comfort requirements. The refrigerant vapor mix helps to maintain the temperature of the air blown through the vents, making for cooler air on hot days. It is carried by a hoses connected to a plastic tube that leads to the evaporator coil itself. The coil itself consists of metal fins on top of a plastic tube or housing. The coil is connected to or made part of the vehicle's air conditioning system, depending on whether it is an automatic, manual, or standard vehicle with manual transmission. When trouble arises with this evaporator coil it may be difficult to diagnose due to the fact that there are many components that work together with it in order for it's function as described to take place. Replacing it with the same size or higher capacity is often advised. When replacing it, it may be associated with some damage to the system however if not repaired properly it could potentially cause further damage to the system. For example, if it is being replaced for being damaged by a "whack-a-mole" repair, then this repair may have caused some other damage that will have to be addressed in order for this evaporator coil to function properly. The vehicle owner will have to choose which aspect of the vehicle they are most concerned about in order for the ongoing repairs on their evaporator coil choice. Some other issues that can arise besides this may include: Gas subsiding (the vehicle's air conditioning system) - this issue is usually associated with installation or wiring; it would be advisable to address these concerns immediately, as they could cause the evaporator coil not to function properly. Before replacement of any part it's important to take note of all information concerning the air conditioning system. This includes checking compressor input, receiver/dryer output, and flotor pressure; then checking for proper recirculation. It may also be useful to check for system leaks if possible, along with checking the compressor clutch operation if applicable. When replacing the evaporator coil it is important to know what size and model is compatible with your vehicle. If not, then it may cause further damage as described above. It is also important to note that the evaporator coil does not necessarily have to be replaced with another evaporator coil; different types of coils are available for vehicle replacement. The new coil would need to fit within the space of the original evaporator coil, but could be a different size and/or capacity if it offers a better choice for the vehicle system's needs. cfa1e77820
